Network Under 40 exists at the intersection of friendship and business. It’s not just about meeting people, it’s about knowing people.
Network Under 40: DC exists at the intersection of friendship and business. We understand that we live in a connection economy and the foundation to success in career and personal life hinges on genuine relationships with real people.
We are about mixing business and pleasure, throwing out the conventional wisdom that says you have to change who you are to ‘be professional’. Instead, we encourage you to be real, to have fun, and to cultivate authentic and meaningful relationships around social activities.
It’s not just about meeting people, it’s about knowing people. Fortunately, there are a lot of cool people for you to get to know at our events, ranging from tables for ten to several hundred person occasions – Learn More.
Don’t believe us? Check out what Inc. Magazine has to say about how we build local communities and turn transactional, tedious networking events into fun, meaningful experiences!
Come as you are. Build rapport. Leave with a foundation for genuine relationships.

Connect With Your Local Director
Oh hullo there Network Under 40:DC!
I’m your event director, Strother Gaines, and I’m thrilled to have you as a part of the NU40 community! You’re here to learn a bit about me so lemme give ya some of the highlights. I’m a business and personal coach for creative entrepreneurs and those who want to become one. Think “lawyers who just wanna dance” or “programming potters”.
Some might call me a multi-passionate entrepreneur and others might call me a lovable clustercuss. I’ve got a background in theatre, public speaking, education, sales, management, leadership and segway-tour-guiding. My private practice is called “But I’m a Unicorn, Dammit!” and I’m working to help people own up to the idea that they are, in fact, a unique fu($!@& snowflake.
A big part of my business is speaking and training and I recently spoke on the topic of immersive storytelling at TEDx MidAtlantic which you can take a look at here. In my copious free time I direct immersive theatrical pieces, love to kayak on the Potomac, and am working my way through the DC restaurant scene.
I’m really excited to have you join us to experience these amazing events, explore these fantastic venues, and meet the very best of DC. We’re all looking forward to meeting you, learning about what you’re up to, and finding out how we can help.
